This classic photograph is of "Oxygen Corner" located beside the international offices of Huntsman Tioxide near Billingham, which holds the original painting of William Gregor, discoverer of titanium. Billingham was an important manufacturer of chemicals beginning with ammonia producer at the end of World War I, moving on to plastics and petrochemicals. Aldous Huxley visited the industrial complex at Billingham which inspired his visual concept of Brave New World published in 1932.
